Katie Chapman and her family have another reason to be excited for Christmas this year, as they have just moved into their forever home in Gomersal.
Having sold their 3-bed semi in Birstall earlier this year, the Chapmans couldn’t wait to get the keys to their new 4-bed detached home at Oxford Meadows so they could be closer to their family and have the space they needed to spend quality time together.
“My brother lives around the corner from Oxford Meadows and my mum is also local,” explains Katie. “We feel so much closer to family here - I go for morning dog walks with my brother every week and this year we’ll be able to have everyone round to ours for Christmas without squeezing in extra chairs and bringing in small tables! We’ve also been able to get a huge real tree this year, which looks beautiful in the bay window.”
With their previous properties all being renovation projects, the Chapmans never thought they’d buy a new build but when Katie’s mum urged them to take a look at our Gomersal site, they fell in love with the Berkeley house design and were so impressed by the quality of the building they could see happening across the site that they were immediately sold and bought off-plan.
“It was hard not seeing the house we were buying but we’re really happy with everything we picked”, says Katie. “When we got the keys and walked in for the first time, it exceeded all our expectations. We’re really happy we’re not renovating anymore and that we’ve got a ready-made home that we can enjoy spending time in as a family.”
Their favourite room in the house is the large kitchen-diner in the sun room at the rear. “The Velux windows really make it a wow room – it’s light and airy and we spend the majority of our time in here because we can all be together whether one of us is cooking while the kids are crafting, or we’re entertaining guests.”
Moving house can sometimes be stressful, especially with three children and a dog so close to Christmas, but Katie and her husband have had a smooth buying experience with the Riva Homes team. “It has been such an easy process and the service has been unbelievable – the sales executive, Clio and the site manager, Paul have been amazing at keeping us informed and have been on-hand when we’ve needed them.”
Cosying up together on the sofa to watch Christmas films next to the tree, they must surely be on Santa’s nice list and have lots of happy memories to make in their forever home. “The more we live in it, the more we love it,” beamed Katie. “One of our daughters said the other day that we’re going to live here for ever and ever and we’re never moving! We think she’s right.”
